Mrs Fulstow Headteacher |
Mrs Brammall Deputy Head Associate Governor |
I have worked with Children, Young People and families in a variety of settings within the Education and Youth Sector over the last sixteen years and feel my experience can be put to good use in my local community.
Although it may sound like a cliché, I am very passionate about Education and believe that the early experiences at primary school are so important in any child’s life, no matter what their background. I completed a master’s degree in Education in January 2018 and focused my final project and Dissertation on Governance and School Improvement. I did so in the hope that I could use the research outcomes to benefit both our School and hopefully others in supporting governors to help achieve success for all. I currently work at a University in their Marketing and Student Recruitment department and have visited many schools around the UK and beyond as part of my role, which involves raising the aspirations of children and young people between the ages of 9 and 18. Having spent time in so many different schools, it has shown me how important it is to establish a strong school community, a welcoming and inclusive environment and actively promote high standards of teaching and behaviour. I truly believe that Elloughton School, with the dedicated staff, engaged parents and talented pupils is a wonderful place to be. My hopes for the school in the future are that as well as all pupils making progress in the necessary academic areas and achieving their full potential, they have an exceptional school experience and feel safe, happy, supported and inspired throughout their time here. I hope that they will leave Elloughton Primary for secondary school as confident, respectful, resilient and motivated individuals who, whether they continue their Education to University or not, stay passionate about learning throughout their lives and remember their time with us as a positive one. |
As Co-Chair of Governors, I bring a wealth of experience from the Further Education sector, coupled with a genuine passion for ensuring all pupils, from primary to secondary levels, have access to the best opportunities. I am dedicated to fostering an environment where every child can excel, not only academically but also socially, helping them to develop the skills needed for lifelong success. As the link Governor for Maths and SEND, I firmly believe that instilling positive attitudes and behaviours towards learning from an early age is essential for long-term achievement.
Outside of my governance role, I am deeply committed to spending quality time with my young family and caring for my animals. An active individual, I enjoy horse riding, walking, and exploring new places abroad. This balance of professional and personal pursuits fuels my drive to support every child’s holistic development, ensuring they receive a well-rounded education that prepares them for the future. |
My two Boys are both at Elloughton Primary School. I am a passionate believer of the importance of a sound education. Children, be they from a privileged or disadvantaged background, must be encouraged to develop their individual talents to the full. My true belief is that it is not about getting grades but about a true education covering everything that will allow children to reach their potential, both in terms of their academic success and their personal well-being. I am a qualified Chemist having worked in both education and industry. I am also enthusiastic about sports and the arts being fully supported in schools.

I’m Alex. I’m a midwife and a mum! I am an Elloughton alumni and I have twin girls that now go to the school.
As a parent governor I’m excited to be able to participate in the school and it’s future and help bring the voice of the parents to the school I truly believe that early years is the key to an excellent educational future for children. |
My name is Lesley Hemingway, the Local Authority Governor and I am very much looking forward to joining the governing body and contributing to the continued development and success of Elloughton Primary School I recently took early retirement, after teaching in Middle and Primary Schools since 1978. During this time education had undergone many and varied changes, but the learning experiences, enjoyment and achievements of the pupils remain at the heart of a good school. Being a governor means I can make use of the skills I have gained through teaching and being a parent in a practical and worthwhile way My own interests include walking, bird watching, swimming, reading and travelling.

I have lived in Elloughton for the last six years, and my wife has worked at the school for the past four years. I have worked with children both in a primary and secondary school setting through my work at my employer KCOM and I am passionate about making sure the children at Elloughton fulfil their full potential and are able to study in a safe and supportive environment. I have a strong knowledge of how the school works and look forward to supporting staff and the leadership as they continue to improve and raise standards across the school.
Coming from a digital background, I’m also keen to make sure all pupils and staff are supported in developing their digital skills given the importance in their future. My own interests include football, gaming and running after my young son. |
Having returned from living in the Midlands for the past 20 years and with a strong sense of wanting to support the local community, I joined the governing body as a Co-opted Governor in January 2022. At the same time I also joined the governing body at South Hunsley School and Sixth Form, so I’m hoping both roles will prove mutually beneficial to each other, as well as to my own knowledge and experience of the educational sector. I’ve previously held a governor role at an independent specialist college based in Birmingham, for students with visual impairment, autism, and other disabilities.
My background is in Financial Services, where I was a divisional MD for a health insurer and Chief People Officer for the Group. I’ve also got financial and legal experience, so my skillset lends itself well to the Leadership and Management Committee which I’m a member of. I’m currently working with a local charity, HEY Smile Foundation, and am also a Trustee for Help for Health and another charity in the Midlands. You may also see me walking to and from school (my son is currently in year 5) with a guide dog as I volunteer for them. In my spare time I’m a keen golfer, cyclist, and taxi driver for my two children. |
Having taken early retirement after 34 years local authority service (East Riding of Yorkshire Council and previously Beverley Borough Council) I applied to be a governor at Elloughton Primary School in the summer term 2023 and I hope to dedicate quality time to getting to know the school better and the educational provision there. I have a passion for education, especially during the early years of school. My working background has been in administration, leading teams of staff through various changes over the years and I latterly worked in the Governors Support Service. I felt now was the time to ‘give something back’ and become a governor myself; where I could bring the knowledge and experience I have towards supporting the school. I have four grandchildren aged 14, 10, 4 and 3 years old, who I enjoy spending time with and also watching them grow in confidence as they get to know more about the world in which we live. I live in Elloughton and love the community feel of the locality, of which the school is a large part. |
