What makes elloughton Special?

What makes Elloughton Special?

A place where children feel valued, families feel welcome and learning
is brought to life through memorable experiences.

At Elloughton Primary School, we are proud of the unique and nurturing community we have created. Our school is more than just a place to learn – it is a place where children feel valued, supported and inspired every day.

From the moment pupils join Team Elloughton, they become part of a caring and supportive family where relationships, respect and belonging are at the heart of school life. Our highly skilled and passionate staff work together to create an environment where children feel happy, confident and ready to achieve their very best.

We truly believe our pupils wear their Elloughton badge with pride, and our shared values help to shape the positive culture of our school.

Celebrating Success

At Elloughton, we love to celebrate the achievements of our pupils. We recognise not only academic success but also kindness, effort, resilience and positive attitudes. Children are recognised and celebrated through::

Weekly Celebration Assemblies
OPAL Assemblies
Headteacher Awards
Kindness Afternoon Tea
OPAL Awards
Sports Awards
Art Awards
Star Learner Awards
House Points

These celebrations help to build confidence and encourage children to take pride in their achievements.

A Strong School Community

Elloughton is a school where families feel welcome and involved. We value the strong partnership between school and home and provide many opportunities for families to take part in school life. Our community events include:

OPAL Parent Play Days each term
OPAL Adventurers during the summer holidays
Stay and Read sessions
Colour Run
Stay and Cook events
Come and See classroom visits
FESA Events

Family Breakfasts
Eco Deli
Stay and Play
Stay and Learn sessions
Church Services
Sports Day
Art Exhibition
Music Showcase
School Performances

These opportunities help strengthen relationships and allow families to share in their children's learning experiences.

Leadership and Responsibility

We believe it is important for children to develop leadership skills and take responsibility within the school community. Pupils can take on a variety of roles including:

Mini Playmakers
Mini Mid Day Supervisors

Mini Caretakers
Year 6 leadership roles
Toy Technicians
Class Monitors

These opportunities help children to build confidence, develop teamwork and feel proud to contribute to school life.

Our House System
Our house system encourages teamwork, pride and a sense of belonging across the school. Children earn house points for demonstrating our school values and for their effort in learning and behaviour. These points contribute to termly house rewards which celebrate the achievements of each house team.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
We believe that some of the most memorable learning happens outside the classroom. Children enjoy a wide range of educational visits and residential experiences throughout their time at Elloughton. Our residential progression ensures that pupils experience new challenges and opportunities as they grow older, helping them develop independence, resilience and confidence.

OPAL Play

Outdoor play is an important part of life at Elloughton. Through our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) programme, children have access to exciting, creative and active play opportunities.

As a school community, we have worked hard to develop our outdoor play provision and are proud to have achieved OPAL Platinum status. This reflects our commitment to providing high-quality play opportunities that support children's wellbeing, creativity and development. OPAL encourages children to develop imagination, teamwork, problem-solving skills and resilience through play. It is a much-loved part of our school day and something that truly makes Elloughton special.

Team Elloughton

Above all, what makes Elloughton special is our sense of community. Pupils, staff and families work together to create a school where everyone feels valued and supported. By working together as Team Elloughton, we ensure that every child feels happy, safe and inspired to fulfil their dreams.
