Reading Den
Inspiring a lifelong love of reading
At Elloughton Primary School, we believe that reading should be enjoyable, engaging and accessible for all children. We actively promote reading for pleasure and provide a wide range of opportunities for pupils to develop a love of books.
At break and lunchtime, children are invited to visit our cosy Reading Den, located near Mrs Fulstow’s office, where the possibility of an adventure or magical encounter is just around the corner.
This has been a wonderful way to encourage children to pick up a book and explore different types of reading. The Reading Den is open at lunchtime for our younger pupils, and it is fantastic to see our Year 6 pupils leading story times or sharing books with others.
By introducing books into different spaces, we are seeing children engage with reading in new and exciting ways. Pupils are becoming increasingly confident and willing to try something new.
Alongside a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books, there is something to inspire and engage every child.
Through these opportunities, we aim to develop confident, enthusiastic readers who enjoy reading both in school and at home.
