At Elloughton Primary School, we believe that physical education, sport and physical activity play a vital role in supporting our vision for every pupil. Being active supports both physical and mental wellbeing and helps children to develop confidence, teamwork and resilience.
We aim to provide high-quality physical education and a wide range of opportunities for all pupils to participate in sport and physical activity throughout their time at school.

What is the PE and Sport Premium?
The PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to primary schools to help improve the quality of physical education, sport and physical activity offered to pupils.
Schools are expected to focus spending on five key areas:

• increasing all staff’s confidence, knowledge and skills in teaching PE and sport
• increasing engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and sport
• raising the profile of PE and sport across the school to support whole school improvement
• offering a broader and more equal experience of a range of sports and physical activities
• increasing participation in competitive sport

The PE and Sport Premium is used to make sustainable improvements to the quality of physical education, physical activity and sport across the school.
Our approach ensures that all pupils benefit from high-quality teaching, increased opportunities to be active and a broad range of sporting experiences. We are committed to developing both staff expertise and pupil participation over time.

Impact of PE and Sport Premium
The funding we receive enables us to make meaningful improvements to both the quality of provision and the experiences available to our pupils.
As a result:

• staff confidence and subject knowledge in delivering high-quality PE continues to develop, leading to more consistent teaching across the school
• pupils access a broader range of sports and physical activities, helping them to develop new skills and interests
• participation in physical activity is promoted throughout the school day, supporting pupils’ physical health and emotional wellbeing
• opportunities for competitive sport help pupils to build confidence, resilience and teamwork skills
• all pupils are encouraged to take part, ensuring an inclusive approach where every child can succeed and feel valued

We are committed to ensuring that improvements are sustained over time:

• investment in staff training supports long-term improvements in teaching
• resources and equipment continue to enhance provision for future pupils
