School Expectations
Clear expectations to keep our school safe, respectful and ready for learning
At Elloughton Primary School, we work closely with our families to ensure that all pupils feel safe, happy and ready to learn. The information below outlines some of our everyday expectations and routines that help our school run smoothly.
Mobile Phones and Devices
Pupils’ personal mobile phones and devices are not permitted in school, with the exception of some Year 6 pupils who may bring them for safety reasons when travelling to and from school.
All devices must be switched off on arrival and handed to the class teacher. Devices will be returned to pupils at the end of the school day. Whilst devices are kept securely, the school cannot take responsibility for any damage or loss.
Children should not keep mobile phones or devices in bags or coat pockets during the school day.
Tracking devices, including GPS trackers, AirTags and similar items, are not permitted in school. This is to ensure the privacy and safety of all members of our school community.
Photographs and Recording
Throughout the school year, there may be occasions when children are photographed, for example by local media or for school displays, newsletters, the website or promotional materials.
Children’s names are never shared alongside images used outside of school. If you do not wish your child to be photographed or recorded, please inform the school office.
We understand that parents may wish to take photographs or recordings during school performances. We kindly ask that any images or recordings taken are for personal family use only and are not shared on social media.
Travelling to and from School
We actively encourage pupils to walk, cycle or scoot to school where possible, as this promotes a healthy lifestyle and supports independence and road safety awareness.
Cycle and scooter storage is available on the school site. Pupils who cycle to school should be encouraged to wear a helmet.
For safety reasons, the school car park must not be used for dropping off or collecting children. The only exception is for blue badge holders using the designated disabled parking space.
Children must not ride scooters or bicycles on the playground at the start or end of the school day.
Snacks and Healthy Eating
Children in Key Stage 1 are provided with fresh fruit as part of the government’s healthy schools initiative.
If children wish to bring a snack for break time, we ask that this is a healthy option such as fruit. Sweets, crisps and snack bars should not be brought into school.
Our ‘Tasty Tuck’ shop runs each week, where pupils can purchase items such as milkshakes, juice and pancakes.
Water Bottles
Children are encouraged to drink water regularly throughout the school day.

Dogs on Site
In the interests of safety, dogs are not permitted on the school premises, unless an assistance dog.
If dogs are left outside the school, we ask that they are supervised and do not pose a risk or cause distress to other members of the school community, particularly young children.

- have a sports cap lid
- are clearly named
- are taken home daily for cleaning
- are filled with water only (no juice or fizzy drinks)
