| A warm welcome to all of our website visitors: | ||||||||||
| Welcome to Elloughton Primary School’s website. We are situated in the village of Elloughton near Brough on the edge of Kingston Upon Hull. The school was built and opened in 1977 and has experienced steady growth ever since providing a good and solid education for our pupils in the community. | ||||||||||
| Our children find themselves in a busy and enthusiastic learning environment where there is always much to do, see and learn. We hope that you will find this website useful, informative and "to the point". You should get a good impression of the school's life and ethos. Here we wish to celebrate our success and general educational vision. |
||||||||||
| Head Teacher Welcome: Welcome to our school website. We hope you enjoy looking at the information and finding out about life in our school. We are a friendly school and have the happiness of every child at the centre of all we try to achieve. We offer a high standard of education based firmly on the needs and abilities of each child. |
||||||||||
| A varied, broad and balanced curriculum is provided by a team of highly motivated, enthusiastic and hard working teachers and support staff. This ensures that the atmosphere of the school promotes a high level of achievement in all areas of each child’s development. We aim to provide each child with the opportunity to develop and grow as they prepare for the challenges their futures will hold. | ||||||||||
| Working together we can help to provide an excellent start for every child, as they begin their learning journey, providing them with opportunities to develop and grow and prepare them for their futures challenges. The Staff, Governors and most importantly the Pupils are very proud of Elloughton Primary School and would like to take this opportunity to introduce our school to you through our website. |

| About our School | ||||||||||
| We believe in providing children with an exciting and stimulating curriculum which will enable them to enthuse about their learning and agree with the following statement by Shirley Clarke. | ||||||||||
| "We need to remember that, in the end, the number of level 4's attained will not represent our ultimate aims for education in the 21st century, but a bare minimum standard of those elements of learning which are easy to test." | ||||||||||
| As Sir Richard Livingstone said, 60 years ago: | ||||||||||
| "The test of a successful education is not the amount of knowledge that a pupil takes away from a school but his appetite to know and his capacity to learn. If the school sends out children with the desire for knowledge and some idea of how to acquire and use it, it will have done its work. Too many leave school with the appetite killed and the mind loaded with undigested lumps of information." | ||||||||||

| Fortunately our most recent OFSTED inspection ( December 2008 ) agreed that we were a "satisfactory" school and that we did succeed in our philosophy of educating the "whole child" ...."The headteacher's philosophy of educating the "whole child" is strongly supported by all staff and results in confident pupils who are well equipped with the skills to succeed in later life." | ||||||||||
